Signing out of MobilityManager
This article explains how to sign out of MobilityManager and what happens to your session when you do.
How to sign out
- Open your user menu in the top area of the application.
- Choose Sign out (Logout).
You are returned to the sign-in page. Your session token is removed from your browser, so the application can no longer make requests on your behalf from that device.
How sessions work
MobilityManager uses a stateless session token. Signing out removes that token from your device. Because the token is what proves who you are, removing it ends your access immediately in that browser.
Note: Even if you never sign out, a session token is only valid for 8 hours. After it expires you are asked to sign in again.
Signing out and multiple companies
If you belong to several companies, your active session is scoped to the company you last selected or switched to. Signing out ends that session entirely. The next time you sign in, you choose a company again. To move between companies without ending your session, use the company switcher instead of signing out.
Shared and public computers
Warning: Always sign out when you finish on a shared, public, or borrowed device. Simply closing the browser tab may leave your session token in place until it expires, which could let someone else continue your session.
- Sign out explicitly before you leave the device.
- Avoid saving your password in a shared browser.
- If you suspect someone used your session, reset your password. Resetting also clears any account lockout and forces a fresh sign-in.
Troubleshooting
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| You are signed out unexpectedly | Your 8-hour session likely expired. Sign in again. |
| You are still signed in on another device | Sessions are per device. Sign out on each device, or wait for the token there to expire. |
| You want to end all access after a lost device | Reset your password. This is the fastest way to invalidate access that relies on your credentials. |
