What the Driver role can book
The built-in Driver role is the self-service end-user role in MobilityManager. This article explains exactly what a Driver can book and do with bookings, and where the boundaries are compared with a fleet manager.
What the Driver role includes
Permissions are enforced by the platform, and the Driver role is granted a deliberately focused set for booking and driving. In the booking area, a Driver can:
- Create bookings for themselves (permission
bookings:create); - View their own bookings, upcoming and past (permission
bookings:view-own); - View vehicles so they can pick one to book (permission
vehicles:view); - manage their own driving licence: view their licence details and upload a licence verification (permissions
driver-license:viewandlicense-verification:upload).
What a Driver can actually do end to end
- Search for an available vehicle in the pools they can access and create a booking.
- See all of their own bookings and open any one for full details.
- Cancel their own booking while it is still PendingApproval or a not-yet-started Confirmed booking.
- Start their own booking (recording the vehicle's odometer) and end it (recording the return odometer).
Every one of these actions is scoped to the driver: a Driver acts only on their own bookings. Opening or cancelling another driver's booking is refused.
What a Driver cannot do
Several booking capabilities are reserved for the FleetManager role (or a custom role granted the matching permissions):

Note: Because a Driver does not hold bookings:view-all, the fleet booking calendar and the per-vehicle and per-pool calendar views are not available to the Driver role. Drivers work from their own bookings list instead.
Access still depends on pools and licences
Holding bookings:create does not by itself let you book any vehicle. You can only book from pools you have access to (shared pools plus any a fleet manager has assigned you), and only vehicles that are active and assigned to a pool. If driver-licence enforcement is set to hard block, you must hold the required licence class for a vehicle before you can book it.
Tip: The Driver role intentionally does not include finance or admin areas such as expenses (Belege). If you need access to modules beyond self-service booking and your own licence, a SystemAdmin can assign you a role with the appropriate permissions.
Custom roles
Beyond Driver, FleetManager, and SystemAdmin, your organization can define custom roles with any combination of these permissions. If your access differs from what is described here, your account may be on a custom role — check with a SystemAdmin.
