Read a damage case in the detail view
This article walks you through the damage-case (Schadenfall) detail view — what it shows, what you can do from it, and how permissions shape the actions available.
Opening a case
Select any case from the list, or open it directly by its ID, to reach the detail view. Reading a case requires the damage-management:view permission. If the case does not exist in your tenant you will see a "not found" message.
What the detail view shows
The detail view brings the case's core identity together in one place:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Schadensnummer | The tenant-unique damage number. |
| Status | Current lifecycle status: open, in_repair, or closed. |
| Fault type & Vorfindeschaden | The fault classification and whether the damage pre-existed. |
| Vehicle | The affected vehicle, shown with its licence plate. |
| Driver | The assigned driver's name, if one is set. |
| Insurer | The assigned insurance company, if one is set. |
| Damage & notification dates | When the damage occurred and when it was reported. |
| Created | When the case was recorded. |
Actions from the detail view
With the damage-management:transition permission you can manage the whole case from here:
- Edit the core data (dates, mileage, description, vehicle while open, driver).
- Set the fault classification and the Vorfindeschaden flag.
- Assign an insurer and manage claims.
- Add and edit financial line items.
- Set deadlines with reminders.
- Attach documents.
- Move the case through the workflow, including closing it.
Note: Users with only damage-management:view can read everything in the detail view but cannot edit the case or change its status.
How status changes the view
The detail view respects the case's status. While a case is open you can change its vehicle; once it moves to in_repair the vehicle is locked. Once the case is closed the whole case becomes read-only — core data, classification, and financial line items can no longer be changed.
Tip: The status history behind a case records each transition with a timestamp and the user who made it, giving you a complete audit trail of how the case reached its current state.
Related sub-records
A case is the hub for several related records — financial line items, insurance claims and their communications, deadlines, and documents. Each has its own view accessed from the case, so the detail view is your starting point for the full history of a damage.
