Recording the licence classes a driver holds
This article shows you how to record the licence classes a driver holds in their driver-licence profile (Fahrerakte), including issue and expiry dates, restriction codes, and professional-driver CPC details.
Who can edit a licence profile
Creating or updating another driver's profile requires the driverLicense:manage permission, held by the FleetManager and SystemAdmin roles. Drivers can view their own profile (driverLicense:view) but cannot edit it or see colleagues' profiles.
Open the driver's licence profile
From the Führerscheinkontrolle module, open the licence profile for the driver you want to edit. If the driver has no profile yet, saving licence details for the first time creates one.
Enter the core licence details
Every profile needs a licence number; saving without one is rejected. Fill in the following:

| Issue date | When the licence was first issued. |
| CPC issue / expiry date | For professional drivers, the Certificate of Professional Competence (Berufskraftfahrer-Qualifikation) dates. |
| Probationary / probation end date | Whether the driver is within the probation period (Probezeit) and when it ends. |
Add the licence classes
Licence classes follow the EU class scheme (for example B, C, CE, D). You can look up the available classes and their meanings from the reference data, which includes each class's name, description, minimum age, a vehicle-type hint, and the lower classes it includes through the class hierarchy (for example CE includes C and B).
- Add one row per class the driver holds.
- Select the licence class code.
- Enter that class's issue date and expiry date where applicable.
- Enter any EU restriction codes (Schlüsselzahlen) that apply, such as the code requiring corrective lenses.
Rules that apply when saving
- A profile can hold at most 16 licence classes.
- The same class code cannot appear twice; duplicate codes are rejected with a message naming the duplicate.
- Saving replaces the full set of classes: classes you remove from the form are deleted, and new rows are added.
Tip: Enter an accurate expiry date on each class. The daily expiry-reminder job uses these dates to warn drivers and managers before a class lapses, and expired classes appear on the compliance dashboard.
What you cannot edit here
The verification dates — LastVerifiedAt and NextVerificationDueDate — are not entered by hand. They are set by the verification workflow when a fleet manager accepts an uploaded licence or records a manual check.
Note: Every profile update is written to the module audit log with the acting user, so changes to a driver's recorded classes are traceable.
