Premium overview and cost tracking
This article explains how to view premium installments, mark them paid, chase overdue amounts, and track your total insurance cost in the Versicherung module. Viewing premiums requires versicherung:view; marking a premium paid requires versicherung:manage.
How premiums are tracked
Each insurance policy is billed through one or more premium installments. An installment records a due date, an amount in EUR, an optional payment reference, and a status. The number of installments follows the policy's payment frequency - Monthly, Quarterly, SemiAnnual, or Annual.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Due | Scheduled and awaiting payment. |
| Paid | Settled; carries a paid date and optional payment reference. |
| Overdue | A due installment whose due date has passed. |
| Cancelled | No longer payable. |
Viewing premiums
- Open the Versicherung module and go to the Premiums area.
- Filter as needed - by status, by policy, or by a due-date range.
- Review the list, which is ordered by due date and shows each installment's policy number, amount, due date, paid date, reference, and status.
Marking a premium as paid
When you settle an installment, record it so cost reports stay accurate. This requires versicherung:manage.
- Find the installment in the Premiums list.
- Choose the mark-paid action.
- Optionally enter a payment reference (for example, a bank transfer or invoice number).
- Confirm.
The installment's status changes to Paid and its paid date is set to the time you confirmed. The action is written to the module audit trail.
Note: Only premiums marked Paid count toward the totals in the loss-ratio and premium-trend figures. Keep payments up to date so those reports reflect reality.
Chasing overdue premiums
The Premiums area includes an overdue view that lists every installment still marked Due whose due date has already passed, ordered by due date. The insurance dashboard also surfaces overdue premiums and an alert count, so nothing slips through.
Warning: An installment does not become Overdue on its own - it is a Due installment past its due date. Review the overdue view regularly and mark payments as they clear so the list stays trustworthy.
Tracking total insurance cost
Premiums feed several cost views across the module:
- Dashboard KPIs - total annual premium across active policies and average deductible.
- Premium trend - premium amounts due over the last 12 months.
- Cost by coverage type - annual premium grouped by coverage type, such as Haftpflicht or Vollkasko.
- Cost allocation report - premium cost attributed to each vehicle, ranked highest first.
- Top cost vehicles - the vehicles with the highest annual premium.
Setting the overdue alert window
A user with versicherung:manage can adjust how many days before or after a due date the premium alerts trigger, in the module settings (the premium overdue alert days value), alongside renewal and certificate reminder windows. This lets you tune how early the dashboard warns you.
Tip: Enter a consistent payment reference when marking premiums paid - it makes reconciling the Versicherung records against your accounting system far quicker at period end.
