Activating a 30-day demo license and its limits

This article shows you how to activate the built-in 30-day demo license and explains exactly what it includes, so you can evaluate MobilityManager without a purchased key.

What the demo license gives you

The demo is a self-contained trial that unlocks every module but caps how much you can create. It is intended for evaluation on a single installation.

Note: Because the demo enables every module, it is a faithful way to explore Schadenmanagement (damage management), Belege-Management (receipts/expense documents), Führerscheinkontrolle (driver's licence check), Tankmanagement (fuel management), Versicherung (insurance), and the rest — just at trial scale.

Activate the demo

1. Start the onboarding wizard on a fresh installation and continue to the license step.
2. Choose the demo option instead of entering a full license key.
3. Confirm. No key is required — the demo profile is applied directly.
4. On success the wizard shows the 30-day expiry date and the 1 / 10 / 5 seat limits.

Tip: The demo can only be activated when no license is present yet. If a license already exists, activation is refused with "A license is already activated"; replace it through the update flow instead.

Working within demo limits

• You can create up to 1 company, 10 active vehicles, and 5 active users. Deactivating a user or vehicle frees its seat.
• Reaching a cap blocks only new creation of that resource; existing data keeps working.
• The vehicle cap counts active vehicles across the whole installation, not per company.

How the demo is protected

The demo has no signed key to verify, so the platform periodically checks that the demo row still matches the canonical demo profile. If the limits, module flags, or the 30-day window were edited directly in the database, the background integrity monitor corrects them back and records a tamper-evidence event. Pushing the activation date forward to "renew" the free window is detected and does not extend the trial.

Moving from demo to a full license

1. Obtain a purchased signed license key.
2. Have an administrator with the softwareLicense:manage permission replace the demo through the update/replace flow.
3. Your data is preserved; the new key raises the seat limits and sets the modules and expiry your plan grants.

Warning: When the 30 days elapse, the license counts as expired. An expired license disables the modules and blocks creating new companies, users, and vehicles until you activate a valid full license.
