Tracking statutory inspections: HU, §57a and MFK
This article explains how MobilityManager tracks statutory technical inspections and how the labels change to match your country. The inspection type is driven by your tenant's regulatory framework, set by a SystemAdmin.
One inspection date, three legal frameworks
Every vehicle has a single next inspection date field on its Fahrzeugakte (vehicle file). What that date is called depends on the tenant's regulatory framework:

If no framework is configured, the system defaults to HU and shows a generic "Next Inspection Date" label in some views.
How the framework is chosen
The regulatory framework is a tenant-wide setting. It is normally established during onboarding and can be changed later in tenant settings by a SystemAdmin. The chosen framework determines the label used everywhere the inspection date appears, including reminders and the "Inspections Due Soon" dashboard widget.
Note: The framework controls only the naming and labeling of the inspection. The underlying due date is the same field regardless of country, so switching frameworks relabels existing inspection dates without moving them.
How statutory inspections differ from maintenance plans
Statutory inspections are tracked separately from the recurring service plans in the Wartungsplanung module. Knowing which system to use avoids double-tracking:
- Statutory inspection (HU / §57a / MFK) — a single legal due date held directly on the vehicle. Drives the inspection reminder job and the Inspections Due Soon widget.
- Maintenance plan — a recurring service defined by a template and interval on a vehicle. Drives the maintenance dashboard and maintenance reminders.
You can, if you prefer, also model the inspection as a Legal-category maintenance template and plan to keep servicing history together — but the vehicle's next inspection date is what the statutory reminder system reads.
Tip: Keep the vehicle's next inspection date current after every inspection. That single field is what triggers the country-specific reminders your fleet managers rely on.
Who can see and set it
Fleet managers maintain the inspection date on the Fahrzeugakte. Seeing the fleet-wide Inspections Due Soon widget requires reporting access (the reports view-all permission), which FleetManager roles typically hold.
