What Wartungsplanung (maintenance planning) covers
This article explains what the Wartungsplanung (maintenance planning) module covers so you can decide where each task belongs. Wartungsplanung is a licensed module that keeps every service, inspection, and due date for your fleet in one place.
What the module does
Wartungsplanung ties together four building blocks. Together they let you define what maintenance a vehicle needs, schedule it, record the work, and get reminded before anything falls due.
- Templates — reusable definitions of a recurring service or check (for example "Oil service" or "HU inspection"), each with a category and default intervals.
- Plans — a template applied to a specific vehicle, with the interval and the next due date/mileage for that vehicle.
- Records — the log of individual services that were scheduled, are in progress, or have been completed, including cost, mileage, and who performed the work.
- Reminders — automatically generated alerts as a plan approaches its due date, which you can acknowledge or dismiss.
Categories of maintenance
Every template and record is tagged with one category, which helps you separate routine servicing from legally required checks.

The maintenance dashboard
The module opens on a dashboard that summarizes active plans, overdue items, upcoming work within 30 days, services completed this month, and total cost this month. It also lists your most overdue plans and the most recent activity, so you can triage at a glance.
Who can use it
Access is permission-based and enforced on every action:
- maintenance:view — see the dashboard, templates, plans, records, and reminders, and run exports. Typically held by FleetManager.
- maintenance:plan — create, edit, and remove maintenance plans on vehicles.
- maintenance:manage — create and edit templates and records, mark records complete, and acknowledge or dismiss reminders.
A SystemAdmin can hold all three; Driver typically holds none of them. Custom roles can mix these permissions to fit your organization.
Note: Statutory inspection due dates (HU, §57a, MFK) are stored on the vehicle's Fahrzeugakte (vehicle file), not inside a maintenance plan. The two systems work side by side: use plans for recurring servicing and the vehicle's next inspection date for the legal check. See the inspection articles for details.
