Marking notifications as read
Marking notifications as read keeps your notification center tidy and clears the unread badge on the bell icon. In MobilityManager you can mark a single notification as read, mark everything as read at once, or let the app mark items as read automatically when you open them. This article covers each method and what the read state means.
What "read" means
Each notification tracks whether you have read it and, if so, when. Unread notifications are highlighted in the list and counted in the badge on the bell icon. When a notification is marked as read, the highlight is removed and the unread count drops by one. The read state is stored per user, so marking a notification as read only affects your own view.
Mark a single notification as read
You can mark one notification as read from either the bell dropdown or the full Notifications page:
- Open the bell dropdown or the Notifications page.
- Select the notification you want to clear.
- The notification is marked as read immediately, and the unread badge updates.
Selecting a notification that links to a record also opens that record. For example, opening a booking notification marks it as read and navigates to the booking at the same time.
Note: Selecting a notification that is already read does nothing to the count — it simply opens the linked record if one exists.
Mark all notifications as read
When you want to clear everything at once, use the bulk action:
- Open the bell dropdown or the Notifications page.
- Select Mark all as read.
- Every unread notification is marked as read and the badge resets to zero.
This applies to all of your unread notifications in the current tenant, not just the ones currently visible on screen.
Automatic marking when you open an item
If you select a notification that links to a record — such as a booking, a booking request, or a vehicle — the app marks it as read as it takes you to that record. This means acting on a notification and clearing it happen in a single step.
Read notifications stay in your history
Marking a notification as read does not remove it. Read notifications remain in your history so you can look them up later, and you can review them using the filter controls on the Notifications page. There is no separate delete action for individual notifications; marking them as read is how you keep the list under control.
Tip: If your list is getting long, mark everything as read and then use the Read filter on the Notifications page to browse past items whenever you need them.
Availability
Marking notifications as read is available to every signed-in user, regardless of role. You can only mark your own notifications as read; you cannot change the read state of another user's notifications.
