Filtering reports and dashboards by date, company, and vehicle
This article explains exactly what you can and cannot filter when running fleet reports and dashboards, so you scope each view correctly by date, by company, and by vehicle.
Filtering behaves differently for each of these three dimensions. All reporting views require the View reports permission (reports:view-all), granted to FleetManager and SystemAdmin by default.
Filtering by date range
Date filtering is the one filter you set explicitly. The fleet overview report and the booking-frequency view both accept an optional start date and end date. When you leave them empty, the system defaults to the last 30 days (start = 30 days ago, end = today), and the end date is treated as the end of that day so the full day is included.
Note: The date range affects only booking-driven figures — booking statistics, costs, and booking frequency, all keyed on each booking's start time. Inventory and the current utilization snapshot always reflect the fleet as it stands now and ignore the dates.
The Utilization dashboard does not take a date range. Instead it uses a lookback window in days (default 30, maximum 365) for its time and mileage measurements.
Filtering by company
You never select a company manually. MobilityManager is multi-tenant, and every report and dashboard is automatically scoped to your own company (tenant). You only ever see your company's vehicles, bookings, costs, and utilization; there is no cross-company or "all companies" report. This scoping is enforced on the server, so it cannot be bypassed by changing a URL or query value.
Warning: Because company scoping is automatic, do not expect a company or client filter on the report screen — its absence is by design, not a missing feature.
Filtering by vehicle
Reports are fleet-level and are not narrowed to a single vehicle through a request parameter. Instead, they give you the full per-vehicle breakdown and you read the row you care about:
- The fleet overview report lists every vehicle in its inventory section (sorted by license plate) and every active vehicle in its utilization section (sorted by utilization).
- The per-vehicle utilization view lists all active vehicles ranked by composite utilization, so you can locate one plate and read its full metrics.
To focus on one vehicle, export the report to CSV and filter or sort by license plate in your spreadsheet, or scroll to the vehicle's row in the on-screen list.
Quick reference
| Dimension | How it is applied |
|---|---|
| Date | Explicit start/end date (reports, booking frequency); lookback days on the utilization dashboard. |
| Company | Automatic — always your own tenant; not selectable. |
| Vehicle | Not a request filter; read the per-vehicle rows or filter an export. |
Tip: For a clean month-by-month comparison, run the fleet overview report twice with each month's exact start and end dates rather than relying on the rolling 30-day default.
