I reached a seat or vehicle limit
Your MobilityManager license caps how many companies (tenants), user seats, and vehicles you can have. When you hit one of these caps, the action that would exceed it is blocked with a clear message. This article explains each limit and how to free up capacity or raise the cap.
Symptom
Creating a user, adding a vehicle, or creating a company fails with a message such as User limit reached (N), Vehicle limit reached (N), or Tenant limit reached (N), where N is your licensed maximum.
Cause
These limits come from your signed license and are enforced whenever a new record would push you over the cap. How each is counted matters:
| Limit | What counts toward it |
|---|---|
| User seats (MaxUsers) | Active users only. Deactivating a user frees a seat. This includes seats taken by users who sign in through single sign-on. |
| Vehicles (MaxVehicles) | Active vehicles across all companies combined. This is a global cap, not a per-company one; decommissioned vehicles do not count. |
| Companies (MaxTenants) | The number of companies (tenants) in the system. |
Note: If your license has expired you may instead see License expired or No active license found when checking a limit. Renew the license first, then retry.
Resolution
Free up existing capacity
- For a user-seat limit, deactivate accounts that are no longer needed. Because only active users count, each deactivation frees one seat immediately.
- For a vehicle limit, decommission vehicles that have left the fleet. The cap counts active vehicles across every company, so removing stale records anywhere helps.
- Retry the action once you are back under the cap.
Raise the limit
- Contact MobilityManager support or your account manager to obtain an upgraded license with higher limits.
- Have a SystemAdmin apply the updated signed license. Updating the license preserves your first-activation details while refreshing the limits.
- Confirm the new maximums, then create the user, vehicle, or company again.
Warning: Because new single sign-on users are provisioned automatically, a full user cap will block new SSO logins with the message The licensed user limit has been reached. Please contact your administrator. Free a seat or raise the limit before those users can sign in for the first time.
Tip: Administrators can check the current license, its expiry, and its maximums in the license administration area to plan ahead before you run out of capacity.
