Manage a leasing contract for a vehicle
This article shows you how to record and maintain a vehicle's leasing or financing contract on the Contracts (Verträge) tab of its Fahrzeugakte (vehicle file). These contract rows are the monetary source for the leasing category in the Fleet Cost Cockpit, so keeping them current keeps your total-cost-of-ownership figures accurate.
Where leasing contracts live
Each vehicle keeps its full contract history as dated rows on the Contracts (Verträge) tab. A vehicle can have several rows over time — for example when one lease ends and a follow-on contract begins. Rows are listed newest first by start date. Viewing contracts requires the Vehicles.View permission; adding, editing, or deleting requires Vehicles.Manage (FleetManager, SystemAdmin, or a custom role granted it).
Add a leasing contract
- Open the vehicle and select the Contracts (Verträge) tab.
- Choose Add contract.
- Complete the fields (see the reference below). A monthly rate and a start date are required; the other fields are optional.
- Save. The new contract appears at the top of the list.
Field reference

| Lessor (Leasinggeber) | The leasing or financing company. |
| Contract no. | The lessor's contract number. |
| Monthly rate | The recurring monthly amount (required). Feeds the leasing cost category. |
| Residual value | The agreed end-of-term residual (Restwert), if any. |
| Included mileage | The contracted annual mileage allowance, in km. |
| Start / End | The contract term. Leave the end date empty for a running (open-ended) contract. |
| Cost center | Cost-center code to attribute this contract's cost. |
| Notes | Free text, e.g. special terms. |
Edit or end a contract
To change any detail — for example to record a new mileage allowance or to enter the end date when a lease is returned — open the contract row and choose edit, adjust the fields, and save.
Tip: When a contract ends, set its End date rather than deleting the row. This preserves the historical cost record and lets you add the follow-on contract as a new row with its own start date.
Delete a contract
If a row was entered by mistake, you can delete it from the Contracts tab. Deletion is permanent and removes that contract's amounts from cost reporting.
Note: Leasing contracts are separate from the vehicle's acquisition type. A vehicle marked as leased still needs its contract rows here for the monthly rate and mileage to appear in cost analysis; the acquisition type only affects terminology and utilisation warnings.
