Maintaining technical data

On the Technik (technical) tab of the Fahrzeugakte (vehicle file), you link a vehicle to a variant in the shared vehicle-data catalog so the file displays its full technical specification — engine, power, fuel type, emissions, weights, and dimensions.

How the Technik tab works

The technical specification shown on this tab is reference data sourced from the shared vehicle-data catalog (the same catalog used to identify vehicles by their German KBA key numbers, HSN/TSN). Each vehicle can link to exactly one catalog variant. Once linked, MobilityManager renders the variant's read-only spec sheet on the Technik tab.

Because the spec sheet is catalog data, you do not type engine or emissions values directly on the vehicle. Instead, you choose the correct variant, and the specification follows automatically. This keeps technical data consistent across every vehicle that shares the same variant.

Linking or changing the catalog variant

Linking a variant is a management action. You need the vehicles:manage permission (FleetManager or SystemAdmin, or a custom role that grants it). Users with only vehicles:view can read the specification but cannot change the link.

1. Open the vehicle and go to the Technik tab of the Fahrzeugakte.
2. In the variant selector, pick the variant that matches the vehicle. The list is limited to the variants available for this vehicle's model, so you only see relevant options.
3. Select the variant and confirm with the link/change button. The tab reloads and shows the specification for the chosen variant.

Note: If no variants exist for the vehicle's model in the catalog, the selector is empty and a hint is shown. In that case the vehicle stays unlinked and the tab displays an empty state until a matching variant becomes available.

What you see once a variant is linked

After linking, the tab shows a specification grid. Only fields that carry a value in the catalog are displayed, so shorter records simply show fewer rows. Typical fields include:

• Variant name, body type, and drive type
• Fuel type and engine type
• Power (in kW and PS) and engine displacement (ccm)
• CO₂ emissions (g/km) and top speed (km/h)
• Curb weight and permissible total weight (kg)
• Length, width, and height (mm), plus seat and door counts
• Braked and unbraked towing capacity (kg)
• HSN, TSN, and VSN key numbers

Tip: If the specification looks wrong (for example the power or emissions do not match the registration document), it usually means the vehicle is linked to the wrong variant. Reselect the correct variant rather than trying to edit individual values — the spec sheet is not editable here.
