Managing Locations
Overview
The Standorte (Locations) catalog (group Fahrzeug / Vehicle under /applications/generalMasterData/overview) represents your branches, yards or depots. Each vehicle can be assigned to a location in the vehicle record - allowing you to filter and group your fleet by place of deployment.
Creating a location
- Open Allgemeine Stammdaten (General Master Data) and select Standorte (Locations) on the left.
- Click "Standort hinzufügen" (Add location).
- In the side dialog, enter the Bezeichnung (Label; mandatory field, maximum 50 characters).
- Speichern (Save). The creation date is set automatically; duplicate labels are rejected.
Editing or deleting a location
- Bearbeiten (Edit; pencil icon in the Actions column): change the label in the side dialog.
- Löschen (Delete; wastebasket): only after confirming the safety prompt.
The table shows the Anzahl Fahrzeuge (Number of Vehicles) per location; expanding a row lists the vehicles stationed there with licence plate, brand and model. This way you can tell before deleting whether the location is still in use.
Assignment to the vehicle
You maintain the location assignment in the vehicle record on the Übersicht (Overview) tab via the Standort (Location) dropdown (Article 20). If a location is missing from the list, you can create it directly from within the vehicle record ("Standort hinzufügen" / Add location button next to the dropdown, requires masterdata.edit).
Frequently asked questions
Why is the label limited to 50 characters? The field is deliberately kept short so it stays readable in table columns, filters and exports. Use concise names like "Hamburg Nord" instead of full addresses.
Can I store addresses or contacts at the location? No, the location catalog holds only the label. Maintain additional details outside the catalog, e.g. in your vehicle notes.
What happens to vehicles whose location is deleted? The vehicles lose their location assignment. Reassign the affected vehicles before deleting - the expandable vehicle list shows you all candidates.
