DM Settings: Understanding and Correcting the Document Management Storage Paths
Overview
Under Systemadministration → DM-Einstellungen (System Administration → DM Settings) (/applications/documents/settings) you can see how FMWeb stores document files in the file system, and correct the stored paths of existing documents if needed. The page has two tabs: Einstellungen (Settings) and Pfade anpassen (Adjust Paths).
The "Einstellungen" (Settings) tab: Active Document Management (ADM)
Here the tenant's storage structure is shown. Important: These settings are managed in the (desktop) Flottenmanager (the Fleet Manager desktop application) and are view-only in FMWeb - this guarantees that web and desktop remain compatible.

Below the switches, a preview shows the resulting example path. Driver documents are always stored, independently of this, under …\FAHRER\<driver name> - the same structure that the desktop Flottenmanager also uses (Article 107).
FMWeb's application server needs read and write permissions on the base path; missing permissions are reported directly as a warning by the document tabs of the records.
The "Pfade anpassen" (Adjust Paths) tab: path change as a bulk action
After a server relocation or a folder rename, the document paths stored in FMWeb point to nowhere. Instead of touching each document individually, you replace the start of the path for all affected documents at once (also directly accessible under /applications/documents/pathChange):
- Enter the Alter Pfad (old path) and Neuer Pfad (new path) (e.g.
\\AlterServer\Doku→\\NeuerServer\Doku). Both fields are mandatory and must not be identical. - Vorschau laden (Load preview): FMWeb shows all affected documents with their name, old and new document path and the count ("… document(s) affected"). Nothing is changed yet.
- Review the preview, then Ersetzen ausführen (Run replacement) and confirm the safety prompt. FMWeb reports how many paths were updated.
Important: The bulk action only changes the paths stored in the database - the files themselves must already be in the new location (or you must move them there). Afterwards, test a download via the Document Search (Article 105).
Frequently asked questions
The preview finds no documents. The old path must begin exactly as stored in the database (including the server designation and spelling). Determine an example path via an affected document.
Can I change the ADM settings in FMWeb? No - you maintain the base path and path structure in the desktop Flottenmanager; FMWeb only displays them and uses them during upload.
