Maintaining Brands and Models
Overview
Marken (Brands) and Modelle (Models) are the two central vehicle catalogs: When creating and editing a vehicle (Article 20) you select the brand and model from exactly these lists. You find both in the Fahrzeug (Vehicle) group of the General Master Data (/applications/generalMasterData/overview).
Brands
The table shows Bezeichnung (Label) and Anzahl Fahrzeuge (Number of Vehicles). By expanding a row, you see all vehicles of this brand with licence plate, brand and model.
Create or edit a brand:
- Click "Marke hinzufügen" (Add brand) or the Bearbeiten (Edit) icon in the Actions column.
- In the side dialog on the right, enter the Bezeichnung (Label; mandatory field).
- Speichern (Save). Duplicate labels are rejected.
Models
Besides the Bezeichnung (Label), models carry three optional terms fields that you can use, for example, for company-car policies:

Here too, the table shows the Anzahl Fahrzeuge (Number of Vehicles) per model, and the expandable row lists the assigned vehicles.
Note: In FMWeb a model is not permanently tied to a brand - brand and model are selected independently of each other on the vehicle. Therefore, use unambiguous model labels (e.g. "Golf VIII" instead of just "VIII").
Creating directly from the vehicle record
If a brand or model is missing when creating a vehicle, you don't have to leave the vehicle record: Next to the dropdowns there is a "Neu anlegen" (Create new) button that creates the same entry (also requires masterdata.edit).
Frequently asked questions
Can I delete a brand that is still assigned to vehicles? First check the "Anzahl Fahrzeuge" (Number of Vehicles) column and the expanded vehicle list. Reassign affected vehicles beforehand, otherwise the vehicle records lose their brand assignment or the deletion fails.
What is the CSV/PDF export for? Via the table toolbar you export the current catalog, e.g. for reconciliation with purchasing or the lessor.
Do brands/models affect reports? Yes - brand and model appear in vehicle lists, reports and in the Leasing Return Cockpit (Article 13) as descriptive columns. Clean catalogs avoid duplicates like "VW" and "Volkswagen".
