Interface in Version 10.4: Side Dialogs, a Fixed Footer and Dark Mode
Overview
Version 10.4 gave the FMWeb interface an overhaul. The three most noticeable changes: editing dialogs that slide in from the side ("drawers"), a three-part layout of the large editing pages with an always-visible footer, and a switchable dark theme.
Side editing dialogs (drawers)
Editing individual records – e.g. master-data catalogs, sub-lists of the vehicle file (tires, fuel cards, appointments, equipment), receipts or documents – no longer opens as a centered window but as a full-height panel that slides in from the right. The list underneath remains visible, so you keep your context.
- Closing: X at the top right or the Escape key. Changes are only applied with Speichern (Save).
- The width follows the form (approx. 400–860 px, full width on small screens).
- Confirmation prompts, wizards and previews still appear as centered dialogs.
Editing pages with a fixed footer
Large files (vehicle, driver) are divided into three zones:
- Header area (fixed): title, notices and the action bar; if you lack editing permission, the "Nur Lesen" (Read only) chip appears here.
- Content (scrolls): the actual forms and tabs.
- Footer (fixed, "sticky"): on the left "Zur Übersicht" (To the overview), on the right the green Speichern (Save) button, sometimes with the time of the last save. The footer stays visible at all times while scrolling – you never have to scroll to the bottom of the page to save.
Dark theme (dark mode)
Via the moon/sun icon in the header bar ("Dunkles Design" / Dark theme, "Helles Design" / Light theme) you switch the color scheme. Note:
- The choice is stored in the browser (cookie
fmweb_theme, valid for one year) and remembered per browser/device – not on the user account. - On your next visit, the theme is already applied with the first page build; there is no brief flash of the wrong scheme.
- All views, including tables and charts, follow the chosen scheme.
Further elements of the header bar
- Menu icon (☰): shows/hides the left navigation.
- Edition chip next to the title: shows your license edition (Business/Enterprise/Ultimate, Article 112).
- Translate menu: switch the language between German and English.
- User menu (initials): "Passwort ändern" (Change password) (Article 115) and "Logout".
Frequently asked questions
I accidentally closed a drawer – are my entries gone? Unsaved entries are lost when closing; saving happens exclusively via the Save button.
Colleagues see a different color scheme than I do – is that an error? No. The theme is a personal setting per browser, not per installation or user account.
The screen looks cut off, the footer is missing. Check the browser zoom (Ctrl+0) and reload the page; the layout reserves the header and footer as fixed and only scrolls the content.
