Working with Tables: Searching, Filtering, Grouping and Exporting

Overview

The overviews in FMWeb (vehicles, drivers, addresses, tenants, logs, and many more) use uniform tables with the same controls. This article explains them once, centrally.

Searching

  • Search field in the toolbar (magnifier): filters the table across all columns.
  • Some pages additionally have their own search field above the table – for example, the vehicle search specifically searches licence plate, make, model, driver, cost center, keeper and technical identifiers as you type.

Sorting and filtering

  • Sorting: click the column header (clicking again reverses the direction).
  • Column filter: the filter icon in the column header opens an Excel-like menu – select and deselect values with checkboxes, or set text/number/date conditions. You can recognize active filters by the highlighted icon.

Grouping

Where available (e.g. vehicles, drivers, penalties): drag a column header into the grouping row above the table. The rows are grouped by that value; multiple grouping levels are possible. To undo, drag the grouping field back again.

Showing and hiding columns (column chooser)

Many overviews contain considerably more columns than are visible by default (in the vehicle overview, for example, chassis number, first registration, fuel …). Via the Spaltenauswahl / "ColumnChooser" (column chooser) item in the toolbar you show or hide columns.

Your selection, as well as sorting and filters, is saved per browser and persists after your next login. With the toolbar button "Layout zurücksetzen" (Reset layout) you restore the default view – the first thing to try when a table looks "broken" or columns are missing.

Exporting (CSV, PDF, Excel)

Via the toolbar you export the table as CSV or PDF (individual pages additionally as Excel or CycloneDX JSON, e.g. the SBOM – Article 113).

If the view is filtered, FMWeb asks before exporting: "Welche Daten sollen exportiert werden?" (Which data should be exported?)

  • Gefilterte Ansicht (Filtered view) – only the currently visible (filtered) rows
  • Alle Daten (All data) – the complete data set of the overview, regardless of the filter

Paging

Large tables are shown page by page; you change the page size at the bottom in the footer (depending on the page, e.g. 5–100 rows, default usually 25 or 50). Very large data sets such as the Protokolle (Logs) are loaded page by page directly from the server – sorting and filtering are also executed on the server there, but the operation stays identical (Article 16).

Frequently asked questions

I'm missing a column that a colleague sees. Check the column chooser or use "Layout zurücksetzen" (Reset layout) – the view is saved per browser.

The export doesn't contain all rows. You probably chose "Gefilterte Ansicht" (Filtered view), or a column filter is active. Export again with "Alle Daten" (All data).
