General Master Data: The Central Catalog Hub
Overview
Under Stammdaten → Allgemeine Stammdaten (Master Data → General Master Data) (/applications/generalMasterData/overview) you maintain all the catalogs that feed the selection lists throughout the rest of the system - from the vehicle brand to the offence category for penalty notices. Well-maintained master data is the basis for clean vehicle and driver records: Every dropdown selection (e.g. brand, model, body type, location, cost centre) in the vehicle record (Article 20) comes from exactly these tables.
Which catalogs are there?
The left-hand sidebar organizes the catalogs into five groups:

Clicking an entry loads the corresponding table in the right-hand area.
How to work with the tables (since version 10.4)
All master data tables follow the same operating pattern:
- "... hinzufügen" (Add ...) button above the table creates a new entry.
- Actions column on the right of each row: Bearbeiten (Edit; pencil) and Löschen (Delete; wastebasket).
- Editing and adding open a side dialog ("Drawer") at the right edge of the screen - with Speichern (Save) and Abbrechen (Cancel). Cancelled changes are not applied.
- Suche (Search), Spaltenauswahl (Column selection), CSV and PDF export are available in the table toolbar; columns can be sorted, filtered (Excel-style) and reordered. By default, 20 rows per page are shown.
- Deleting always asks for confirmation: "Soll ,...' wirklich gelöscht werden?" (Do you really want to delete '...'?)
- Duplicate entries are caught: "Der von Ihnen eingegebene Begriff ist in der Datenbank bereits vorhanden." (The term you entered already exists in the database.)
Many tables (brands, models, body types, fuels, locations, vehicle pools, equipment) additionally show the "Anzahl Fahrzeuge" (Number of Vehicles) column; expanding a row lists the affected vehicles with licence plate, brand and model - so you can see what depends on the entry before deleting.
Permissions

masterdata.viewyou see all catalogs, but without the Add button and Actions column (read-only mode). masterdata.editunlocks creating, editing and deleting.- The same permission also applies to the inline "create new" buttons next to the master data dropdowns in the vehicle record.
You grant roles and permissions as described in Article 18.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I edit anything? You are missing masterdata.edit - the tables then appear read-only.
What happens when I delete an entry that is still in use? Before deleting, check the "Anzahl Fahrzeuge" (Number of Vehicles) column or the expandable vehicle list. Some catalogs refuse to delete entries that are in use (e.g. equipment, countries) with a corresponding notice.
Three catalogs behave differently when renaming – why? For Konten (Accounts), Versicherungsart (Insurance Type) and Zahlungsweise (Payment Method), the label itself is the database key. Details in Article 27.
