Why Can't I See a Module? Troubleshooting in Four Steps
Overview
"Menu item X is missing for me" almost always has one of four causes in FMWeb: license edition, add-on license, permission or system setting. Work through the steps in order – the appearance usually reveals the cause.
| Appearance | Likely cause |
|---|---|
| Whole page "Enterprise Lizenz erforderlich" (Enterprise license required) with a price | Edition too small (Step 1) |
| Area visible but locked/blurred ("Enterprise Feature") | Add-on license missing or expired (Step 2) |
| Menu item missing entirely | Permission or system setting (Steps 3–4) |
| Page "Zugriff verweigert" (Access denied) when opened directly | Permission (Step 3) |
Step 1: Check the edition
The chip in the header bar shows the edition (Business/Enterprise/Ultimate). The specialist modules of FMWeb require Enterprise (from 4 workplace licenses); with Business, only System Administration and Profile are usable, and everything else shows the "Enterprise Lizenz erforderlich" (Enterprise license required) page with the "Angebot anfordern" (Request a quote) button. Details: Article 112.
Step 2: Check the add-on license
Individual modules require their own licenses – under Systemadministration → Lizenzen (System Administration → Licenses), check the name, count and Gültig-bis (valid-until) date (expired = locked):
- WebRes bookings → license WebRes
- Disposition (Dispatching) → WebDispo
- Documents (incl. document tabs) → Dokumentenverwaltung (Document Management)
- Damage areas → Schadensmanagement (Damage Management); calendar/appointments → Fahrzeugkalender (Vehicle Calendar); driver's logbook → Fahrtenbuch (Driver's Logbook)
- Penalties and Enterprise analyses → Enterprise edition
Step 3: Check the permission
If the menu item is missing despite the license being present, the user lacks the associated .view permission (roles under Systemadministration → Benutzer/Rollen / System Administration → Users/Roles, Article 18). Examples:
| Menu item | Permission |
|---|---|
| Strafmandate (Penalties) | penalties.view |
| Disposition (Dispatching) | dispo.view |
| WebRes Buchungen (WebRes Bookings) | webres.view |
| Fahrermeldungen (Driver Reports) | processing.inbox |
| Dokumente (Documents) | documents.view |
| Fahrzeuge / Fahrer / Adressen (Vehicles / Drivers / Addresses) | vehicles.view / drivers.view / addresses.view |
| Auswertungen / Enterprise-Übersicht (Analyses / Enterprise Overview) | statistics.view / statistics.enterprise |
| Entries under System Administration | the respective system.* key (e.g. system.tenants, system.licenses) |
If the menu item is there but a button is grayed out, the .edit/.delete/.admin permission is missing.
Step 4: Check the system setting
The Reisekosten (Travel Expenses) menu item only appears if "Reisekosten anzeigen?" (Show travel expenses?) is active under Systemadministration → Einstellungen (System Administration → Settings) and the user holds travel_expenses.view (Article 114). Also keep the location filter in mind: "Zeige dem Benutzer nur Standort-bezogene Daten an?" (Show the user only location-specific data?) hides no module, but reduces the visible records.
Not every module has a menu item
Contracts, insurances, damages, receipts, tires or vignettes are not reached via the navigation, but from within the vehicle or driver file (tabs and sub-lists). So the fact that these items are "missing" from the menu is normal. If, on the other hand, columns are missing in a table, it is usually just the column chooser (Article 118).
