Managing Tenants
Overview
FMWeb is multi-tenant capable: each Mandant (tenant) represents an independent fleet (e.g. a company, branch or group subsidiary) with its own data set. At login, each user selects the tenant they want to work in - only the tenants assigned to them are offered.
Under Systemadministration → Mandanten (System Administration → Tenants) (/applications/tenants/overview) you maintain the master data of all tenants.
The tenant overview
The table shows all tenants (including inactive ones), sorted by name, with the columns Id, Nr (No.), Bezeichnung (Name), Firma (Company), Ort (Town), E-Mail and Inaktiv? (Inactive?). The toolbar provides search as well as CSV and PDF export (operating the tables: Article 118).
Using the pencil icon in the "Aktionen" (Actions) column, you open a tenant for editing.
Editing a tenant
The editing page is divided into four areas:
| Area | Fields |
|---|---|
| Allgemeine Informationen (General information) | Name (mandatory), No., Company, Name 2, "Inaktiv?" (Inactive?) |
| Adresse (Address) | Street, postcode, town |
| Kontakt (Contact) | Telephone, fax, contact person, e-mail address, web address |
| Notiz (Note) | Free text for internal notes |
With Speichern (Save) you apply the changes; without a name, nothing is saved. The Bezeichnung (name) is the name that users see in the tenant selection at login - choose it unambiguously.
Deactivate tenants instead of deleting them
A tenant cannot be deleted, because vehicles, receipts and contracts are attached to it. Instead, set the "Inaktiv?" (Inactive?) flag - the tenant is retained with all its data but is hidden from the active selection lists.
Interaction with other areas
- User access: you set which tenants a user sees at login in the user editor via "Mandanten auswählen" (Select tenants) (Article 18).
- E-mail settings (info mails, reminders) are configured per tenant (Article 02).
- Background services such as mail dispatch, FleetSync or YellowFox only work for the tenants selected or assigned in the respective task (Article 15).
Frequently asked questions
How do I create a new tenant? The overview deliberately has no "New" button: new tenants require their own fleet database and are set up during installation or by support (Article 17).
A user doesn't see a tenant at login - why? First check the tenant assignment in the user editor, then whether the tenant is set to "Inaktiv?" (Inactive?).
Does a system setting apply to all tenants? The general settings (Article 114) take effect installation-wide; e-mail settings, by contrast, apply per tenant.
